This degree will prepare students to gain essential knowledge to become a human support worker and support individuals with disabilities in a community setting. The program is designed for students who plan to work for other licensed providers. Students completing this degree will be prepared to go to work immediately for licensed providers due to meeting requirements if the new waiver redesign.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment for human service professionals is expected to grow by 25 percent in the decade 2010 to 2020. This is faster than the average for all occupations the BLS tracks. This growth is predicated on increased demand for health care and social services. The demographic shift of baby boomers aging will result in increased demand for geriatric services and social services accessed by retirees. Growth will vary by specialty.
